First: What Does Your Water Actually Need?
RO (Reverse Osmosis) is the only technology here that reduces dissolved solids. For borewell, tanker or hard municipal water, you need RO.
UV+UF kills germs and strains particles but does not reduce TDS. It suits good municipal water (TDS below about 200 ppm), with no water wasted.
Gravity / non-electric purifiers need no power or plumbing, but also do nothing for high-TDS water.
If you don't know your TDS, measure it first. A meter costs a few hundred rupees.

2. Treat big MRP discounts with scepticism. Many purifiers in this budget show 50–80% off MRP; compare actual prices, not discounts.
3. Factor in filter replacement. Most models here need annual filter changes; the 2-year filter models (Aquaguard Delight Aquasaver, Sure Delight UV+UF) cost a little more but save on running costs.
4. Check service for newer brands. KENT, Aquaguard, Pureit and Livpure are long established; smaller online brands vary.
