Our Methodology: The Indian Kitchen Score™
At BestAppliance.in, we don't just read spec sheets. We evaluate appliances based on how they actually perform in a typical Indian household. We call this the Indian Kitchen Score™.
Why a separate score for India?
Indian cooking is demanding. We use heavy masalas, deep fry regularly, deal with hard water in many cities, and face frequent voltage fluctuations. A dishwasher that works perfectly in Europe might struggle with an oily Indian kadhai. That's why our testing criteria are specifically tailored for Indian conditions.
How We Calculate the Score
Every appliance we review is rated on a 100-point scale. This overall score is a weighted average of five critical pillars:
1. Indian Cooking Performance (30%)
Can it handle turmeric stains? Does the air fryer make crispy samosas? Can the induction cooktop sustain a slow simmer for dal? We test real-world Indian use cases, not just frozen french fries.
2. Durability & Local Adaptation (25%)
We look for built-in voltage fluctuation protection, hard-water compatibility (especially for washing machines and dishwashers), and robust build quality that can survive humid Indian summers.
3. After-Sales Service in India (20%)
A great machine with terrible service is a bad purchase. We factor in the brand's service network reach across Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities, spare parts availability, and warranty terms.
4. Energy & Running Cost (15%)
We calculate the actual electricity and water consumption costs based on average Indian electricity tariffs, going beyond just the BEE star rating.
5. Value for Money (10%)
Is the premium justified? We compare the appliance's performance and features against its direct competitors in the same price bracket.

Our reviews are entirely independent. We do not accept paid placements or sponsored reviews. If a product performs poorly in our tests, we say so. Our revenue comes strictly from affiliate commissions when you purchase through our links, and the commission rate is the same regardless of which brand you choose—meaning our only incentive is to help you find the best product.
