If you're a couple, a family of 2-3, or setting up a first home, a single door refrigerator is still the smartest buy: cheaper, smaller, and on a 5-star model, cheaper to run than any double door.
Every model below passes the same test: rated 4.0★ or higher on Amazon, at least 100 reviews, and at least 50 bought in the past month. Ratings, review counts and sales are from Amazon India as of late September 2026.

What to Look For in a Single Door Refrigerator
Direct Cool and Defrosting
Every single door here is direct cool: a cooling coil in the freezer chills the compartment, with no fan. It is efficient, but ice builds up in the freezer and has to be defrosted. Most models need manual defrosting; the Samsungs have single-touch defrost, which makes it easier.
Star Rating — The Direct Impact on Bills
Rated annual use from each model's listing:
- 5-star models here use 113-120 kWh a year (about ₹800 at ₹7 a unit)
- 4-star models use 130-132 kWh (about ₹900)
- The 2-star Whirlpool uses 170 kWh (about ₹1,200)
The gap between a 4-star and a 5-star is only about ₹100 a year, so buy on price, space and reviews first. The gap to the 2-star model is bigger, about ₹400 a year.
