Buying a refrigerator comes down to three decisions, in this order: the type (single door, double door or side-by-side), the size, and then the model.
Every fridge we recommend passes the same test: rated 4.0★ or higher on Amazon, at least 100 reviews, and at least 50 bought in the past month. That leaves 34 models, all listed on our refrigerators page. Ratings, review counts and sales below are from Amazon India as of late September 2026.

How to Choose: Single Door vs Double Door vs Side-by-Side
Single Door — For 1-3 People (about ₹13,000-₹22,500)
Single doors are direct cool: a coil in the freezer chills the compartment, and ice builds up that has to be defrosted. In return they are cheap to buy and run: the 5-star models we list are rated at 113-120 kWh a year, about ₹800 at ₹7 a unit.
Buy one if you're a household of 1-3 and don't freeze much. Skip it if you have a family of 4 or more, or hate defrosting.
Double Door — For Most Families (about ₹27,000-₹56,000)
Double doors are frost free: ice is cleared automatically and a fan spreads cold air evenly. The ones we list are rated at 192-242 kWh a year, apart from Bosch's triple door at 360 kWh.
Buy one if you're a family of 3-5 and cook every day.
Side-by-Side and French Door — For Big Families (about ₹52,000-₹85,000)
540L to 655L of storage, but they need about 91cm of width, the narrow columns may not fit large pots, and they are rated at about 450-550 kWh a year. The French door puts the fridge at eye level and the freezer in a drawer below.

Whichever brand you pick, check that it has a service centre near you.
What size refrigerator does a family of 4 need? A frost-free double door of about 250-330L. The Samsung 256L is our top pick; the LG 322L gives more space.

Which refrigerator is best under ₹20,000? The Samsung 189L 5-Star, or the LG 185L 4-Star if you want the best-proven model.
