How to Choose an Air Fryer in India (2026 Guide)
Air fryers let you make crispy samosas, pakoras and tikka with far less oil than deep frying. With dozens of brands selling from about ₹2,500 to ₹16,000, choosing the right one for an Indian kitchen can be overwhelming.
We list 34 air fryers, each rated 4★ or higher on Amazon with at least 100 reviews and at least 100 bought in the past month, and rank them with our Indian Kitchen Score™. Whether you're a family of 4 or living alone, this guide will help you choose.
What is the best air fryer in India in 2026?
The Philips NA120/00 4.2L Air Fryer, 1500W (₹4,459) is our top pick: Amazon India's best-selling air fryer, rated 4.3★ from 6,194 reviews. Before diving into our rankings, here are the 7 key factors that matter most when choosing an air fryer for an Indian kitchen:
1. Capacity (Litres) — Match It to Your Family Size
This is the single most important factor. The air fryers we list range from 3.2L to 7.2L. For a single person or couple, 3.2–4L is enough for a batch of samosas or a portion of fries. For a family of 3–4, go for 4–5L, such as the Philips NA120 (4.2L) or Cookwell (5L). For joint families of 5+, choose 6L or more: the Philips NA130 (6.2L), American Micronic (6.5L), or the 7.2L Philips NA342 and Bosch CrispMaxx. Buying too small means cooking in several batches.
2. Wattage & Power — Check Your Indian Kitchen Wiring
A standard Indian 5A socket is meant for about 1,150W. Almost every air fryer we list draws more (1,200–2,000W), so plug it into a 15/16A socket (the larger three-pin type used for geysers and ACs) rather than a 5A point or a thin extension cord. The exception is the iBELL 3.2L at 800W. Check which sockets you have before buying.
3. Cooking Presets — Indian-Specific Modes Matter
Most presets are for fries, chicken or fish, which are less useful for Indian food. A few models have Indian presets: the NUUK BRĪSK lists samosa, kebab, roti and tikka modes, and the SOLARA lists paneer tikka. Models without them work fine; you set the time and temperature yourself, and our recipe table below gives a starting point.
4. Build Quality & Basket Material
The basket coating matters for daily cooking. Most baskets are non-stick; if you want to avoid PTFE coatings, look at ceramic baskets (Nutricook, NUUK BRĪSK, Inalsa CDW 5.5), glass(Ninja Crispi, EDT Luma) or the AGARO Galaxy's stainless steel inner. The basket should also be easy to remove and clean, and ideally dishwasher-safe.
5. Brand Service Network — Critical in India
If an air fryer develops a fault, you need service in your town. Large appliance brands such as Philips and Havells have national service networks, while smaller online-first brands often handle faults by pickup or replacement. Check the brand's service locator for your pin code before you buy, and keep the Amazon invoice for warranty claims.
6. Temperature Range — Versatility in Cooking
Most air fryers run from about 80°C to 200°C, which covers frying, grilling and baking. Some go lower for dehydrating (banana chips, dried fruit): the Philips NA342 and Bosch CrispMaxx start at 40°C, and the Ninja MAX PRO runs from 40°C up to 240°C, the widest range we list. For samosas, tikka and fries, 80–200°C is plenty.
7. Ease of Cleaning — Dishwasher-Safe Baskets
After making a batch of oily samosas or marinated chicken tikka, cleaning the basket becomes important. Look for baskets that are dishwasher-safe (like the Philips HD9252) or have a truly non-stick surfacethat releases food easily. Some budget baskets require soaking in hot soapy water. A cool-touch handle on the basket is also valuable — you'll be pulling it out while it's still hot. Models with a detachable drawer-style basket are easier to clean than fixed-basket designs.

Air Fryer vs OTG vs Deep Frying — Which Is Better for Indian Cooking?
This is the question every Indian buyer asks: "Should I buy an air fryer, an OTG oven, or just stick with deep frying?"Here's an honest comparison based on real Indian cooking scenarios:
| Factor | Air Fryer | OTG Oven | Deep Frying |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oil Usage | 1–2 tsp | 1–2 tbsp (brush coat) | 500ml–1L per batch |
| Samosa Quality | Crispy (not identical) | Baked, less crispy | Traditional, golden |
| Cooking Time | 12–18 mins | 20–30 mins + preheat | 8–12 mins |
| Electricity Cost/hr | ₹8–16 (1.2–2 kW) | ₹10–20 (1.5–2.5 kW) | Gas: ₹0 (LPG cost) |
| Kitchen Space | Small countertop | Large countertop | Just a kadhai |
| Versatility | Fry, grill, reheat | Bake, grill, toast | Frying only |
| Price Range | ₹2,500–₹16,000 | ₹4,000–₹15,000 | ₹500 (kadhai) |
| Health Impact | Healthiest | Healthy | High calorie |
Choose an Air Fryer if…
You want quick, healthy versions of Indian snackswith minimal oil. Air fryers are ideal for daily snacking — samosas, pakoras, paneer tikka, and frozen foods come out crispy in under 20 minutes. They're compact, easy to clean, and use significantly less oil than deep frying. For Indian families who make snacks 3–4 times a week, the health savings alone justify the purchase.
Choose an OTG if…
You want to bake cakes, pizzas, and do proper oven roasting. OTGs are better for baking because of their larger cavity and more even heat distribution. If you're into home baking — cakes, breads, cookies — an OTG is the better investment. However, OTGs are larger, take longer to preheat (10–15 minutes), and use more electricity than air fryers.
Stick with Deep Frying if…
You want authentic deep-fried tasteand don't mind the oil. Let's be honest — nothing replicates the exact taste and texture of deep-fried jalebi, vada, or medu vada. Air fryers come close, but purists will notice the difference. If you deep fry only occasionally (festivals, guests), a kadhai at ₹500 is far cheaper than a ₹7,000 air fryer.
Our verdict: For most Indian families, an air fryer is the best investment in 2026. The combination of health benefits, convenience, speed, and reasonable pricing makes it a kitchen essential. If you bake regularly, consider getting both an air fryer and a budget OTG.
Air Fryer Budget Guide: Best Picks at Every Price Point
Not sure how much to spend? Here's our honest breakdown of the best air fryers at every price tier — from ultra-budget to premium — so you can make the right choice for your wallet and your kitchen.
Budget Tier
Under ₹4,000
Best Pick: Cookwell 5L or Milton Rapid 4.2L
The Cookwell gives you a 5L basket and a window for about ₹3,400, rated 4.3★ from 1,594 ratings. The Milton is one of the best-selling budget models (2,000+ a month) with 8 presets. For one person, the Inalsa NutriFry 3.5L (4.4★) costs about ₹3,300.
Mid-Range
₹4,000–₹6,000
Best Pick: Philips NA120 4.2L or Havells Stellar Chef 5.5L
The sweet spot for most families. The Philips NA120 is Amazon's best-selling air fryer (9,000+ a month), with 12 cooking modes and a dishwasher-safe basket. The Havells adds a window and a bigger 5.5L basket for about ₹5,400.
Family Size
₹6,000–₹9,000
Best Pick: Philips NA130 6.2L or American Micronic 6.5L
For families of 5 or more. The Philips NA130 is the 6.2L version of the best seller, at about ₹7,300. The American Micronic has a 6.5L basket and a 5-year warranty on its heating element and fan.
Premium
Above ₹9,000
Best Pick: Instant Vortex Plus 6L or Ninja MAX PRO 6.2L
The Instant Vortex Plus is the highest-rated air fryer we list (4.8★ from over 21,000 ratings), with a stainless steel body and a dehydrate mode. The Ninja MAX PRO reaches 240°C for extra-crisp results. Cosori's CAF-L501 is the most-reviewed (34,860 ratings).
💡 Pro Tip:Don't overbuy capacity you won't use — air fryers work best when 50–75% full. A 4.5L fryer cooking 8 samosas gives crispier results than the same samosas spread thin in a 6L fryer.

How to Maintain Your Air Fryer for Long Life
An air fryer is a significant purchase, and with proper care it can last 5–8 years. Indian cooking — with its aromatic spices, oil splatters, and high-heat cooking — demands a bit more maintenance attention than just making chips. Here are the 5 essential maintenance habits that will keep your air fryer performing like new:
1. Clean After Every Single Use
This is the #1 rule. After every use, remove the basket and tray, wash them with warm soapy water, and wipe the interior cavity with a damp cloth. Indian cooking leaves turmeric, spice residue, and oil mist inside the unit — if left to accumulate, this causes smoke during future uses and degrades the non-stick coating. Most baskets and trays are dishwasher-safe (check your manual), making this step quick and easy. The exterior can be wiped with a dry cloth. Never skip this step after making marinated tikkas or heavily spiced dishes — the residue bakes onto the surface and becomes very difficult to remove later.
2. Never Submerge the Main Unit in Water
The main body of the air fryer contains electrical components and the heating element — it must never be submerged in water or put in a dishwasher. Only the removable basket and tray/drawer are safe to wash under water. To clean the inside of the unit body, use a slightly damp cloth or sponge to wipe the interior walls and the heating element area (when completely cool and unplugged). Point the unit downward gently to shake out any loose crumbs before wiping. This simple rule is the most commonly violated — and the most likely to cause permanent electrical damage.
3. Baking Soda for Stubborn Grease (Not Steel Wool!)
When oily residue bakes onto the basket and ordinary soap won't remove it — which happens often after making pakoras or soya chaap — make a paste of baking soda and warm water and apply it to the affected area. Let it sit for 15–20 minutes, then scrub gently with a soft brush or sponge. Never use steel wool, metal scrubbers, or abrasive cleaning pads — these will scratch and destroy the non-stick coating, permanently damaging the basket. Even when the basket seems very dirty, patience with a soft brush and baking soda will always get it clean without damage.
4. Check the Heating Element Monthly
Once a month, with the air fryer unplugged and completely cool, look up at the heating coil at the top of the interior cavity. If you see oil splatters or food residue baked onto the heating element, use a soft brush (like an old toothbrush) to gently remove it. A dirty heating element is the most common cause of smoke during cooking and reduced heating efficiency. In Indian kitchens where spicy marinades are used frequently, this check is particularly important. Some models have a self-cleaning mode — if yours does, use it monthly.
5. Store in a Dust-Free Place
Indian kitchens are dusty and often humid. When not in use, store your air fryer in a clean, dry spot — ideally in a cabinet or covered with a cloth cover. Dust accumulating on the vents (both intake at the back and exhaust at the top) reduces airflow and makes the appliance work harder, reducing its lifespan. If your kitchen is near the stove, oil mist can settle on the air fryer's exterior and get sucked into the vents — wipe the exterior weekly. Some buyers invest in a custom air fryer cover (available on Amazon for ₹200–500) which pays for itself in extended appliance life.
✅ Warranty Tip: Most Indian brands offer 1–2 year warranty on air fryers. Register your product soon after purchase and keep the Amazon invoice for warranty claims. Some brands add cover on registration: iBELL adds a second year if you register within 30 days.

Frequently Asked Questions — Air Fryers in India
How much does it cost to run an air fryer per month in India?+
A 1400W air fryer used for 30 minutes uses about 0.7 units, roughly ₹5–6 at ₹7–8 a unit. Used daily, that is about ₹150–180 a month; used 3–4 times a week, about ₹70–100.
Can I make roti or naan in an air fryer?+
Not well. Roti needs direct heat to puff into a phulka, which an air fryer cannot do. Naan comes out better but without the tandoor char. Air fryers excel at snacks like samosas, tikka and fries.
What capacity air fryer is best for a family of 4 in India?+
About 4–5 litres. The Philips NA120 (4.2L), Amazon's best-selling air fryer, or the Cookwell 5L on a budget. For 5 or more people, or if you often cook for guests, go for 6L or more, such as the Philips NA130 (6.2L).
Is air-fried food really healthier than deep-fried food?+
It uses far less oil, so air-fried snacks usually have less fat and fewer calories than deep-fried ones; brands claim up to 75–90% less fat. Some studies have also found air frying produces much less acrylamide than deep frying. The food itself (maida, potatoes) is unchanged; the benefit comes from the oil you don't use.
Which air fryer brand has the best service in India?+
Big appliance brands such as Philips and Havells have national service networks; smaller online-first brands often handle faults by pickup or replacement. Coverage varies by town, so check the brand's service locator for your pin code before buying.
Can I use aluminium foil in an air fryer?+
Yes, with care. Put it only in the basket (never near the heating element), weigh it down so it doesn't blow around, and leave gaps so the air can circulate. Avoid foil with acidic marinades like tomato or lemon.
How loud are air fryers?+
They make a steady fan noise while cooking, roughly like a kitchen exhaust fan: noticeable, but far quieter than a mixer grinder. Most people can use one while talking or watching TV in the next room.
Do air fryers really cook with zero oil?+
They can, but most Indian snacks taste better with a light brush or spray of oil, about 1–2 teaspoons per batch. Frozen pre-fried snacks need none. That is still a tiny fraction of the oil used for deep frying.
